Leo the Lion: Special Edition

Created as a companion to the Jungle Emperor Leo movie, this DVD contains 3 episodes from the Leo the Lion series:
  • Leo Becomes a Father -- Rune and Rukio are born. Rune has to learn a tough lesson. (5)
  • The Green Plague -- A deadly disease sweeps through the jungle, even affecting Leo's family. (25)
  • The Eternal Mount Moon -- Leo leads a party of humans on a fateful expedition to Mount Moon. (26)
Taken together, these 3 episodes present much of the same story as the movie, but while the movie follows Tezuka's story as written in the 1950s, these Leo the Lion episodes show his mid-60s re-write of the story. Many Kimba fans consider these episodes to be a sort of "antidote" to the movie.
